About The Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to manage a dynamic and friendly team that provides excellent business support to the children and families in Dorset? Do you thrive on change and providing excellent service to the children and families of Dorset? If your answer is yes, then an exciting opportunity has opened within Children’s Services for a Business Support Team Leader. 

We have a permanent full time (37 hour) Team Leader vacancy in our Safeguarding Quality Assurance (QA) team. This team manages the Quality Assurance Team, LADO and CIC.

This post offers the flexibility of working in a hybrid way, working from home and coming into the office weekly in Dorchester. 

The experience, knowledge and skills required for this role are specified in detail in the Person Specification and Job Description, but we are looking for someone who is organised, has a flexible approach, able to effectively prioritise your own workload and that of your team and meet tight deadlines. You will need to be a positive communicator, have some line management experience, and have excellent administration and ICT skills, be able to demonstrate first class customer service, be self-motivated and able to multi-task. Whether you are working from home or are in the office, you will have an eye for detail and ability to work on your own initiative.  

The working environment is busy and dynamic subject to interruptions to deal with queries from operational managers and staff and will involve taking telephone calls.  

Reporting to the Business Support Manager, the role will be varied and interesting and the post holder will need to be motivated and flexible in their approach to work, confident in using their own initiative and able to prioritise a demanding workload to tight deadlines. Quality Assurance: 
The QA team ensure that we provide services that are of a good standard, embracing all activity that contributes to service improvement e.g. monitor compliance with policies and procedures: identify gaps and areas for development and drive learning and service improvement. You will be managing and working with 3 QA Co-ordinators, prioritising their workload with processes associated with QA including regular audits, collecting data, running reports, note taking, practice weeks, practice observations and providing data for Ofsted inspections. These processes include working on behalf of, but not limited to, services such as: • Social Care • Early Help • Educational Services and Schools Safeguarding.  

LADO:
You will be managing 2 team administrators who support the LADO (Local Area Designated Officers). The officers manage allegations against professionals working alongside children and young people, and the business support function involves note taking at initial and review meetings, updating database etc. 

Children in Care (CIC):
You will be managing 2 team administrators who support the CIC team. Processing health consents, organising consultation paperwork regarding a child’s placement etc.  

In addition, you will work closely with the Business Support Manager and Safeguarding Team Leader to ensure a consistent approach and service delivery model is maintained across the business support teams within Safeguarding.

Ensuring procedures are compliant with statutory obligations e.g. Data Protection  
Management and prioritising of work, your own and that of your team. Review and improve business systems, processes and working practices to deliver the best possible standard of support.

You will also need to be an excellent note taker that is able to model this skill set and train the team to the same ;level of excellence when required.

This post offers the flexibility of working in a hybrid way providing support based in both the office as well as ‘virtual’ working from home. We maintain an effective team ethic by communicating with daily huddles, as well as using Microsoft Teams to communicate throughout the day providing a network of support within the Business Support team. Your work pattern and frequency of time spent in the office would be shaped around the needs of the business and or service needs.
