About the role

Want to make a real difference to young people’s lives? Ready to start a meaningful career in youth work?

Dorset Council is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our North Dorset Youth Work Team. This is a Grade 8 role, however there is the option to join at Grade 5 through our Level 3 Youth Work Apprenticeship if you’re new to the profession.

What you’ll do

  •  Deliver targeted youth work to vulnerable young people
  •  1:1, group, detached and outreach work across North Dorset
  •  Be a strong advocate for young people
  •  Work alongside schools, social workers, police and partner agencies
  •  Complete a Level 3 Youth Work Apprenticeship (if required)
  •  Working under an extrafamilial harm lens

What we’re looking for

  •  Experience working with young people or in a caring role (paid or voluntary)
  •  Strong communication skills and a non‑judgemental approach
  •  Motivation, resilience and a willingness to learn
  •  GCSE Maths & English (or willingness to work towards)
