About the role

We are looking for a person passionate about health and wellbeing to join our team at LiveWell Dorset.

LiveWell Dorset is a unique health improvement service which applies the latest behavioural science and technology to help individuals take control of their own health and wellbeing. The service supports individuals to become more active, drink less, stop smoking and maintain a healthy weight and we aim to promote the early identification of cardiovascular disease and the other associated conditions.

Cardiovascular diseases are amongst the preventable forms of non-communicable diseases, of which England faces an epidemic that includes heart disease, cancer, diabetes and dementia. Supporting people to recognise they are at risk and make changes is at the heart of what we do.

We are looking for people to help us deliver NHS health checks and behaviour change interventions in one to one settings across Dorset and BCP.

LiveWell Dorset has a reputation as forward thinking service that practices what it preaches in regards to health and wellbeing. Our team tell us they are proud to work for us, that they feel supported and valued and that it is a positive place to work.

Working for us is never dull. If you want to work with a lively, creative, inclusive and hard working team and you have the skills we need to support the delivery of our high quality service offer do apply.

What is the job?

Are you interested in being part of a new team, working in communities to help reduce health inequalities?

We’re looking for someone with the passion and enthusiasm to work with people and communities with the highest risk of cardiovascular disease. You will be part of a new team working on the front line delivering face-to-face health checks and behavioural support across a range of settings.

This will involve working face to face with individuals, screening them for lifestyle behaviours, collecting information such as height, weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol, and providing evidence-based support to encourage sustainable healthy behaviour change.

About You

This role will be working from the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole areas.

The successful candidates will be trained in the delivery of health checks and in the use of evidence-based behaviour change techniques in the areas of weight management, alcohol intake, smoking and physical activity.

What’s most important is that you are able to engage and connect with people, particularly people living in areas of greater deprivation or those people less likely to be living healthy lifestyles. You will need to have a willingness to innovate and be open to change to ensure services are delivered effectively, efficiently and equitably. It’s likely that the job could look very different from day to day as we deliver the service to a range of different communities and organisations.

Further Information

This post is to work in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.

This position has a significant travel requirement. This means that there is a requirement for a vehicle (or transport deemed to be suitable by the council) to be available on most working days to carry out normal duties.

Some weekend and evening working is part of the role, but we do have a flexi working policy.

A DBS will be required.

Any questions please do email Emma Rossi, Service Manager for Public Health at [email protected]
