Dorset Councils Care Leavers Team are a countywide service. We aim to improve the life opportunities of young people living in and out of Dorset Councils boundaries that are care experienced young people aged 16 to 25 years of age.
You will form part of an experienced supportive and well-established care leaving services. We are passionate about ensuring that our young people who are care experienced are supported and encouraged to make informed life choices which give them the best opportunity to lead successful adult lives.
This role will specifically work with care experienced young people who are or are at risk of homelessness. The role will require you to work with other multi agency professionals to prevent and relieve homelessness in accordance with the Homeless Reduction Act. The role will require supporting those whose life experience of trauma has impacted on their ability to obtain and sustain suitable housing.
What you can expect to be doing:
You will be a Senior Personal Advisor and Lead on a project area for the service under Housing and Emotional wellbeing. As part of this role, you will offer guidance and support to other Pa’s and other professionals to prevent and alleviate homelessness for our care experienced young people.
This role will involve supporting care leavers with their emotional health and wellbeing, working with them intensively to support and help prevent homelessness.
A successful candidate will have a good understanding of housing legislation and trauma informed practice. They will also need to demonstrate an ability to build/sustain professional working relationships quickly and be able to communicate effectively prioritising work and working to time scales.
