About the role

This is a great opportunity to join our Permanence Service as a Family Worker, supporting children in care from the conclusion of care proceedings throughout their time in care. This is a non-case holding role, offering variety and the chance to make a real difference to children, their foster carers, and their families.

Your work will be wide-ranging and may include:

  • Direct work with children in care to support their emotional wellbeing and development
  • Helping children when they move to new homes, ensuring transitions are as smooth as possible
  • Delivering life story work to help children understand their experiences and identity
  • Supervising family time between children and their families
  • Parenting work with parents of children who are living at home

About you

You will have experience of working with children and a genuine commitment to supporting their needs. Experience of working with children in care, life story work, or family support is desirable, but not essential as you will receive full training and ongoing support to develop your skills.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working directly with children
  • Is willing to learn and adapt in a fast-paced, varied role
  • Can work flexibly, including some weekends and evenings as part of a 5-day working week

In return, you’ll join a supportive team who are passionate about making a difference, with opportunities to develop your skills and play a key part in helping children in care thrive.

Further Information

This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.

This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults and/or having access to significant information about them. It will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. See our policy on the employment of ex-offenders.

See our policy on safeguarding children and young people.
