About the role

Join a passionate and collaborative team at the heart of Dorset’s environmental and heritage work. As part of the Dorset Coast Forum (DCF), you’ll be working within the dynamic Environment, Policy & Partnerships Team (EPPT), which sits in the Place Directorate. You’ll be contributing to the protection and promotion of one of the UK’s most iconic natural assets—the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As World Heritage Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting the management and promotion of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for World Heritage enquiries
  • Leading on digital communications, including managing the Jurassic Coast website and social media
  • Supporting the development of engaging resources and interpretation materials
  • Assisting in the delivery of World Heritage projects and contributing to research and reporting
  • Coordinating stakeholder workshops and public engagement events
  • Supporting the review and implementation of the World Heritage Site Management Plan
  • Producing press releases and liaising with Dorset Council’s communications team
  • Helping to develop funding bids and maintain monitoring records for UNESCO reporting
You’ll work closely with the Principal Officer for World Heritage and contribute to the wider goals of the Dorset Coast Forum.
 
About You

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about Earth heritage and skilled in communication, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll bring:

  • A degree in Earth sciences or a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in delivering presentations and public engagement
  • Strong digital skills, including website management, social media, and heritage interpretation
  • Experience in partnership working and building effective relationships across organisations
  • Familiarity with the Dorset and East Devon Coast and its geological features (desirable)
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Further Information

This post is full time (37 hours per week) fixed-term contract for initially two years but with possibility to extend. To to the location of the coast the post holder needs to hold a full driving licence.

Team and office days in Dorchester are generally Mondays and Thursdays. The work is generally Monday to Friday with some weekend and evening work across the Dorset and East Devon.
