The Blandford School are seeking a highly motivated, qualified and experienced Business Manager to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our school leadership team, you will oversee the financial management, operations, Estates, IT and strategic development of the school, ensuring that resources are utilised effectively and efficiently to support students and our development priorities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors to develop and implement the school’s strategic vision. Lead on financial planning and resource allocation to support school improvement priorities and advise on business risks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting to ensure the school’s financial health. Work closely with the Headteacher and governors to develop financial strategies that support the school’s objectives. Monitor income and expenditure, producing regular financial reports for SLT and Governors. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and audit requirements. Seek additional funding opportunities including grants and lettings.
• Operational Leadership: oversee school facilities, Estates, health & safety and IT to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day and strategic operations.
• Strategic Planning: Contribute to long-term strategic planning, advising on resource allocation and planning for future growth. Seek opportunities for additional funding through bids and grants
• HR & Staff Support: Oversee recruitment, contracts, and staff welfare, guiding & supporting HR processes to ensure a motivated and high-performing workforce.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure the school complies with all relevant regulations, policies, and legislation.
• School Improvement: Collaborate with the leadership team to implement projects that enhance the overall school environment and student experience.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Relevant qualification in business, finance, or school management.
• Proven experience in financial management, ideally within the education sector.
• Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of strategic planning and operational management.
• Knowledge of school governance and relevant education policies.
• Ability to think analytically and solve problems proactively.
