You’ll be doing work that genuinely matters, supporting refugee children, young people and families to rebuild their lives and settle into communities across Dorset.
These are full time roles, 37 hours per week, on fixed-term contracts until March 2027, funded through national resettlement schemes.
You’ll join a committed, values-led team who are passionate about inclusion, partnership working and making a real difference, in a role that is varied, challenging and highly rewarding.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work directly with vulnerable adults and children, supporting families before and after arrival in Dorset and helping them move towards independence and integration. This includes building trusted relationships, developing and delivering tailored support plans, and coordinating access to key services such as health care, education, social care, housing, English language tuition and employment.
You’ll manage your own caseload, work closely with colleagues and external partners, and take a flexible, problem-solving approach to meet individual needs. Some evening and weekend working will be required, and the role involves regular travel across Dorset.
About you
- you’ll have experience of working with vulnerable families and a strong understanding of the challenges refugees face when resettling in the UK
- you’ll be passionate about inclusive, anti-racist practice, an excellent communicator, and confident building effective partnerships to support families well
- you’ll be able to think creatively, prioritise competing demands and adapt your approach as situations change. Experience within health, education, housing or employment settings, knowledge of local community resources, or experience of working with interpretation and translation services would be an advantage
- the role requires an Enhanced DBS check.
If you’ve previously applied for this role, please note that your application will not be reconsidered and you do not need to apply again.
Further detail is available in the Context Statement, which provides more information about the role and the wider resettlement programme.
