About the role

Lytchett Minster School is looking for a highly motivated teacher who is passionate about teaching and about making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

This post represents an exciting opportunity for a widely respected, excellent classroom practitioner with a proven track record in leadership who will continue to drive our high expectations and standards of behaviour.

  • Are you an enthusiastic, visible, proactive and confident leader?
  • Can you develop and communicate a clear strategic vision of robust effective behaviour management strategies to support staff in cultivating positive relationships which will ensure students feel engaged and ready to learn?
  • Can you combine firm, consistent standards with empathy, dignity and professional judgement?
  • Are you motivated by helping young people thrive, enabling teachers to deliver their best, and leading a culture that feels safe, calm, aspirational and respectful?

If so, we would be delighted to receive your application.

Visits to the school are welcomed and we would be delighted to show you around our fantastic school. Please contact Sharon Parker, Head's PA, on 01202 622413 to arrange a tour.

If you would like to informally discuss this post prior to applying, please contact Andrew Mead, Headmaster, at [email protected]

Set in a semi-rural location with an 18th Century family Manor House at its heart, Lytchett has one of the most beautiful and inspirational learning environments in the county with stunning extensive grounds and a number of modern extensions.  The school is massively over-subscribed and highly regarded in the community. Parents know that Lytchett looks after its students, providing them with outstanding pastoral care and high-quality teaching.  The school has a successful, thriving sixth form with over 340 students.

Lytchett has not joined a multi-academy trust, and has no intention of doing so, because it values its independence as a secondary school which serves its local community and produces outstanding outcomes for its students.

To find out more about the school, please refer to our 'What is it like to work at Lytchett?' document.

Further Information

Lytchett Minster school values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; this is a commitment which we expect all staff and volunteers to share. The successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Governments safer recruitment guidelines.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Our school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

About Us

The school is welcoming and will ensure that the successful candidate receives appropriate induction, training and support.  We pride ourselves on our strong induction systems which new colleagues always value highly.  We also have well developed performance management systems, and a range of professional development opportunities are available such as leadership training and twilight inset sessions.

All employees at Lytchett Minster School receive a thorough and personalised programme of induction and support.
