About the role

Are you looking for a casual flexible role and be part of a lovely team that provides excellent customer care to our customers in Bridport & Lyme Regis Harbours?

If you are, then a great opportunity has arisen to join the Harbours seasonal team.

Reporting to the Harbour Master, the role will be varied and interesting. The post holder will need to be motivated and flexible in their approach to work, confident in using their own initiative and able to prioritise daily tasks

What you will be doing

This is a flexible, Zero hours role (typically around 20 - 30 hours a week) where you’ll be part of a welcoming and supportive team working along Dorset’s beautiful coastline.

You’ll spend your time outdoors, meet a wide range of people, and enjoy a varied and active role.

Training can be provided for the right person, and weekend and bank holiday hours are included in your overall pay.

You’ll support the Harbour Master and team with the day-to-day running of Bridport (West Bay) and Lyme Regis Harbours.

This includes helping harbour users, collecting harbour dues, delivering fuel, maintaining slipways and steps, inspecting harbour areas, and assisting during busy periods or poor weather.

The work is shaped by tides, the weather, and boat activity, so no two days are the same.

About you

You’ll be someone who:

  • is reliable and confident using their own initiative
  • enjoys working outdoors in all weathers
  • has some knowledge of small boats and harbour activity
  • can communicate clearly and tactfully with the public
  • is happy to work weekends, evenings and bank holidays
  • holds a valid driving licence
  • ideally has RYA Powerboat Level 2 and VHF Marine Radio (or is willing to train)
  • knows the local area around Bridport and Lyme Regis
