About the role

0.8 EYFS Teacher (0.4 in each school) Teacher’s Pay Scale (MPS)

Permanent from Summer Term 2026

The closing date for applications is Sunday 8th February 2026 at midday with interviews taking place on Thursday 12th February 2026.

‘Learning is Everything’

Wessex MAT is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative and dynamic EYFS class teacher, from April 2026, to work with our current EYFS teams in both Bere Regis Primary and Pre-school Milborne St. Andrew First School.  The role will be split across both sites (2 days in each school) where you will lead exciting and creative learning experiences for our youngest learners.

Both schools are therapeutic thinking schools; strong relationships are at the heart of our daily practice. We work closely with staff, parents and carers to ensure that the wellbeing of our children, and the wider school community is at the heart of everything we do.

If you:

  • have recent experience of teaching in EYFS;
  • are passionate about teaching and inspiring children to learn;
  • have excellent subject and curriculum knowledge;
  • are committed to getting the best outcomes for all pupils;
  • have excellent behaviour management skills;
  • are an enthusiastic and flexible team player

…. we would love to hear from you.

Both schools have small teams, so our priority is to appoint the best possible teacher for our children, however, an ability to lead a curriculum area across the primary phase would also be advantageous.

We can offer excellent working conditions, strong, supportive staff teams and school buildings set in a beautiful environment. Both schools are located in one of the most picturesque parts of the country, with fantastic grounds.

We are part of the Wessex MAT (www.wessex.ac ), a growing Trust, the membership of which provides exciting opportunities for support and professional development and established employee wellbeing support.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
