About the role

Weymouth Harbour is looking for someone to join our friendly and hard‑working team for the summer season. Based on the harbourside, this is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customer‑facing skills. You will be greeting customers at the reception desk, helping them with enquiries, providing a professional and first-rate service.

You will be supporting the day‑to‑day harbour activities, maintaining records, communicating with customers, corresponding by email, processing payments and financial transactions.

You do not need extensive maritime experience, but an interest in boating and a willingness to learn are important.

We need someone from April to September who can work two days per week (Monday and Tuesday 0800 – 18.15), but who can also work additional hours to cover annual leave. This will include weekends and bank holidays.

Further Information

A strong candidate will be someone who enjoys working with the people and can provide a polite, friendly and professional service at all times. You should feel confident using IT systems, including email, databases and spreadsheets, and be comfortable handling payments and routine administration accurately. Good organisation and attention to detail are important, as is the ability to follow processes and keep clear records. Above all, you will be adaptable, reliable and able to work well with colleagues in a busy environment with changing priorities.

You will support the team with a range of office and customer‑facing duties, including:

  • Greeting customers at the reception desk and helping them with enquiries, ensuring customers receive the highest standard of customer care.
  • Answering phone calls and emails and providing clear information.
  • Processing payments, taking payments over the phone or face to face, using a till,
  • Checking documentation and keeping accurate records.
  • Booking visiting vessels into the harbour and allocating suitable berths.
  • Managing bookings and permits for the slipway and online systems.
  • Updating databases, maintaining filing systems.
  • Supporting Town Bridge lifting operations as part of the safety team.
  • Assisting with general harbour office tasks as required.

Some work will take place outside on pontoons or harbour sites in all weather.
