About the role

We are seeking a Facilities Duty Manager to join our operational management team. This is a business-essential, front-line leadership role, ensuring the safe, efficient and effective running of The Verwood Hub, Emanuel Sports Hall and Potterne Park.

You will help ensure the sites can open and close as programmed, are welcoming to customers and hirers, and run smoothly day-to-day — maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, customer service, and operational delivery.

Working at The Verwood Hub means being part of a friendly and committed team dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our local community. You will play a key role in delivering activities, events and accessible facilities for residents of all ages at Verwood Hub, Potterne Park and Emanuel Sports Hall.

  • Act as on-site Duty Manager on a rota basis (including weekends).
  • Lead on the daily operations of the Hub, Sports Hall and Potterne Park facilities.
  • Line manage designated staff and support their development.
  • Oversee programming, bookings, and customer liaison.
  • Ensure strict compliance with health & safety and fire safety legislation.
  • Coordinate maintenance issues and contractor interactions.
  • Support delivery of diverse activities and events aligned with Dorset Council priorities.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • An effective, confident operational leader.
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to problem‑solve in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Customer‑focused with excellent communication skills.
  • Experienced in leisure, facilities management or similar operational settings.
  • Able to work flexibly as part of a rota, including evenings/weekends.
