About the role

The Governors of Wyke Regis Primary Federation are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate leader as Assistant Head at the Junior School due to the promotion of our current postholder. The successful candidate will take up post in September 2026. This is an exciting time to join the Senior Leadership Team, with the current Head of Federation retiring. The role is part of the SLT and based primarily at the Junior site; but also involves working across both of our Federation schools. We are very proud of the way the Federation has evolved over the last few years and of the hard working and dedicated staff teams we have in both schools. Both schools were graded ‘Good’ at last inspections.

Although the site is split, we strive for a ‘Federation first’ approach in all we do so that our focus is on our learners from Nursery to Y6. Our teaching and support staff teams work and train together to this end. We are well supported by the Governing Board who have responsibility for both schools. We work in a fantastic and supportive community and are well supported by our parents. Our children are keen and engaged, enjoying school life.

We need someone who will:

  • Work alongside and be accountable to the Head of Federation in promoting a shared vision of Wyke Regis Primary Federation.
  • Be a positive role model, leading teaching and learning in KS2, further raising the quality and effectiveness of learning experiences for all groups of pupils.
  • Inspire the further development of our vision and values which lie at the heart of our curriculum for all learners from Nursery to Year 6.
  • Have the ambition and desire to be a successful leader.
  • Be able to lead change as part of the wider SLT.
  • Who is passionate about preparing children with the skills, knowledge and personal qualities they need to thrive through an exciting, engaging curriculum.
  • Who has excellent personal skills to promote a collaborative, professional learning community.

This is a great opportunity for a dynamic leader with the vision and passion to improve educational standards and ensure good continuity and progression throughout the KS2 phase. If you are excited by the opportunity to really make a difference and think that you have the skills and drive needed to succeed, we would be very keen to meet you.
