This job is Term Time Only for 37 hours per week and 39 weeks per year.

As the Speech & Language Therapist you will work across two school sites to support and enable both primary and secondary pupils to reach their full communicative and educational potential and remove or reduce the barriers that their speech, language and communication needs present to their learning. The successful candidate will have a recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy and current registration with the HCPC. They will have proven experience of working with children, ideally within special needs or education settings, and a strong understanding of speech, language, and communication difficulties.

They will have the ability to work collaboratively within a team, including teachers and support staff, to provide consistent support. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong organisational abilities for managing case records, therapy plans, and progress reports with accuracy and attention to detail.

This role demands understanding of the complex needs of pupils with social, emotional and mental health challenges.

The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

The Forum Centre will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
