About the role

MSP 1–6 Class Teacher (KS2) Permanent at Broadwindsor CE VC Primary School

We are looking for a warm, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to join our happy and thriving school community. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a small, friendly village school where every child is truly known and valued.

At Broadwindsor, we are proud of our nurturing ethos and strong sense of community. We are seeking someone who shares our commitment to helping every child flourish—academically, socially, spiritually, and emotionally. We currently have 4 classes: EYFS, Y1/2, Y3/4 and Y5/6 with 92 children on roll.

What we’re looking for:
  • A passionate and enthusiastic teacher who brings energy and positivity into the classroom
  • A caring and compassionate individual who builds strong relationships with children, families and colleagues
  • Someone who is well organised, adaptable and committed to high standards of teaching and learning
  • A practitioner who embraces creativity and inspires curiosity in all learners
  • A team player who reflects our Christian values of kindness, courage, perseverance, responsibility and creativity in everything they do
  • A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting all pupils to succeed
What we can offer:
  • A welcoming and supportive village school community where staff wellbeing matters
  • Well-behaved and curious children who enjoy learning and coming to school
  • A forward-thinking environment, including the development of a new support base as part of the county’s commitment to inclusion, opening Summer 2026. This will provide enhanced support for children’s wellbeing and create further opportunities for staff CPD
  • A strong commitment to high-quality professional development and ongoing CPD
  • Close working relationships within the West Dorset Schools Collaboration, sharing best practice and learning from colleagues across local schools
  • A  dedicated team who support one another
  • The opportunity to make a real difference and experience the genuine fulfilment of teaching our wonderful learners
If you are looking for a role where you can feel valued, inspired and part of something special, we would love to hear from you so pick up the phone and find out more!

Further Information

Broadwindsor Primary School values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; this is a commitment which we expect all staff and volunteers to share. The successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Governments safer recruitment guidelines

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Broadwindsor Primary School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
