We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support a child in our reception cohort. This person will play a vital role in ensuring a pupil with Visual Impairment can fully access their education, develop independence and lifelong learning skills, and also fully participate in school life. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on a pupil's access to learning and educational journey. You will be part of a team responsible for supporting the pupil across the school day, as well as adapting existing resources and activities, and producing resources in Braille. Training will be given in Braille and other specialist learning methods by the Vision Impairment Education and Learning Team and Dorset Council.
You will work with all subject departments in the school and liaise with a wide range of staff. You will also work closely with the family to help the pupil to make a successful transition to the school and to become a full part of the school community.
We are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our team of excellent Teaching Assistants. We are looking for a highly motivated team member with the skills and experience necessary to support the needs of an individual pupil and to assist the teachers in promoting high standards of engagement and behaviour.
The contract is expected to run until July 2028 or for the duration of the child's time at the school. The post is 28.5 hours per week, term time only.
The ideal candidate will be resilient and flexible, with a passion for supporting children with SEND needs. Previous work with children is essential.
