About the role

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and ambitious Part Time PE Teacher to join our dynamic PE Department in Dorset’s top-performing school.

This is an exciting opportunity to teach across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 within a supportive and forward thinking team, committed to academic excellence and high-quality teaching.

Our students are motivated, hardworking, and eager to excel, creating a positive and purposeful learning environment. The successful candidate will be an excellent PE practitioner with strong subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring participation, achievement, and a lifelong enjoyment of sport and physical activity.

We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers. A comprehensive programme of support, mentoring, and professional development is in place to ensure all staff thrive.

Join us and be part of a school where staff are valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their best.

Visits to the school are offered as part of the interview process.  If you would like further information please contact Racheal Rattenbury, Head's PA/Personnel Manager.

Further Information

The Woodroffe school values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; this is a commitment which we expect all staff and volunteers to share. The successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Governments safer recruitment guidelines.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Our school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

About Us

The Woodroffe School is a vibrant and rewarding place to work, where dedicated professionals share a deep commitment to high-quality teaching and learning, and where students flourish both in and beyond the classroom.

As an 11–18 Local Authority maintained secondary school, we are proud to uphold a strong culture of teacher professionalism and autonomy. We believe that, in order to genuinely meet students’ needs, teachers must be empowered to drive curriculum planning and classroom practice; centrally imposed, one-size-fits-all approaches simply do not work.

Our aim is to develop the whole child. Built on rigorous academic foundations and enriched by a wide-ranging extracurricular programme, our curriculum supports students to succeed not only academically, but also as confident, thoughtful, and engaged members of society.

We are one of only 34 Maths Hub schools in the country.

Working for The Woodroffe School

We take pride in looking after our staff. We know that happy, healthy teachers are at their best, which is why we place wellbeing at the heart of what we do. Our comprehensive wellbeing programme and commitment to a sustainable work–life balance ensure staff have the time, energy, and space to enjoy the activities that make living in this spectacular coastal location fulfilling.

At Woodroffe, you will also benefit from high-quality professional development, with clear pathways for career progression and opportunities for promotion within the school.
