About the role

The primary purpose of the Learning and Skills Assessor role is to assess apprentices’ competence against the General Farm Worker and Livestock Unit Technician apprenticeship standards within the agriculture sector. The role focuses on supporting apprentices to develop their knowledge, skills, and behaviours, ensuring they make sustained progress and achieve successful outcomes.

The assessor will provide high-quality coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback, setting realistic and achievable learning goals to support continuous development. They will ensure apprentices are well prepared for End Point Assessment through effective planning, monitoring, and delivery of robust assessment practices.

In addition, the role includes the design and delivery of engaging classroom-based learning to enhance apprentices’ wider knowledge and understanding of the apprenticeship standards. This includes embedding industry-relevant practices and promoting best practice within the agricultural sector.

The assessor will work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including employers, to maintain high-quality provision, uphold compliance requirements, and meet organisational objectives. They will also take responsibility for their own continuous professional development to maintain occupational competence and stay current with industry standards and practices.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced agricultural professionals looking to coach and mentor the next generation of agriculturalists as full training and development will be given or for existing agricultural teachers, trainers and assessors wishing to join a new, ambitious, and growing College.
