Contract: Term time only, Fixed term until 02/07/2027
We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and self-motivated 3D Technician to join our dynamic Creative Industries team. The successful candidate will support the Art and Design department by supporting technical 3D skills at an appropriate level across all Level 2 – Level 5 Art courses within the 3D workshop and ceramics.
What will the job entail?
- Provide support of teaching and learning within the department by the management of resources
- Ensure that the working environment is safe for staff and students to use and take responsibility for COSHH and risk assessing of tools and activities
- Be responsible for the acquisition, organisation, and use of resources to support teaching and learning
- Help the department run as smoothly as possible on a day-to-day basis
- Use ordering systems to ensure availability of resources
- Undertake construction work to install shows and exhibitions
- Drive a minibus for departmental visits
Required skills:
- Basic computer literacy
- Passionate and skilled in metal, wood and ceramic (specifically kiln firing and glaze mixing)
- General construction skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Clear communication skills
- Resourcefulness
- Be educated to GCSE level, including English and maths
- Hold a valid driving licence
Desirable skills:
- Digital competency
- Specialist 3D skills such as mould making and laser cutting
- A good level of fitness is also required as the role involves manual handling
- Candidates must be willing to train for minibus driving, first aid and fire safety
