About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, approachable and reliable Technician (IT Support) to join our dedicated support team at Dorset’s top-performing schools.

If you enjoy technology, like solving problems and get satisfaction from helping people, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

We are looking for someone with a good understanding of everyday technology, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. You will provide friendly, basic first-line IT support to students and staff, helping to ensure that our computers, equipment and classroom technology are working effectively every day.

Actual Salary £20,841 - £21,168 per annum (Grade 3, SCP 3-4)

This job is Term Time Only for 35.00 hours per week and 39 weeks per year.

The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

About the role

No two days will be the same. Working as part of our IT department, you will provide practical hands on support across the school.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Providing friendly, basic IT support to staff and students.
  • Troubleshooting common computer, printer, login and software issues.

Setting up, checking, moving and maintaining computers and other IT equipment.

  • Supporting staff with classroom technology, including interactive screens, projectors and associated equipment.

  • Carrying out routine checks and basic IT maintenance.
  • Preparing IT equipment and accounts for new staff and students.
  • Reporting more complex technical problems to the IT manager.
  • Keeping IT equipment and work areas organised and in good working order.
  • Providing friendly and helpful support to everyone who uses IT across the school.

Previous experience in an IT support role would be helpful, but we are also happy to consider candidates who have a strong interest in IT and are looking to develop their skills.

Could this be your next role?

Come and join us and be part of a school where staff are valued, supported and inspired to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people every day.

Further Information

During the interview process you will have an opportunity to tour the school shown around by our 6th Form students.   If you have any queries, please contact Racheal Rattenbury on 01297 442232 or email [email protected]

The Woodroffe school values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; this is a commitment which we expect all staff and volunteers to share. The successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Governments safer recruitment guidelines.

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Our school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

About Us

The Woodroffe School is a vibrant and rewarding place to work, where dedicated professionals share a deep commitment to high-quality teaching and learning, and where students flourish both in and beyond the classroom.

As an 11–18 Local Authority maintained secondary school, we are proud to uphold a strong culture of teacher professionalism and autonomy. We believe that, in order to genuinely meet students’ needs, teachers must be empowered to drive curriculum planning and classroom practice; centrally imposed, one-size-fits-all approaches simply do not work.

Our aim is to develop the whole child. Built on rigorous academic foundations and enriched by a wide-ranging extracurricular programme, our curriculum supports students to succeed not only academically, but also as confident, thoughtful, and engaged members of society.

We are one of only 34 Maths Hub schools in the country.
