We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and people-focused individual to join our Apprenticeship & Work-Based Learning Team on a six-month fixed-term basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of apprenticeship, employability and workforce development programmes at a time of significant transformation. Working closely with colleagues across the council, businesses, education and training providers, and community partners, you will help us move towards a more proactive approach to attracting, developing and retaining talent. You will play a key role in supporting Pathways to Employment programmes, apprenticeship provision and wider workforce initiatives that contribute to building a modern, skilled and sustainable workforce.
The successful candidate will help develop and maintain partnerships with employers and external organisations, creating opportunities for people to access work experience, apprenticeships, training and employment. You will support the identification of current and future skills needs, helping to ensure our programmes align with workforce priorities and create meaningful progression opportunities for local people.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of initiatives, helping individuals access opportunities whilst supporting services to develop the workforce they need now and in the future. You will contribute to building a stronger pipeline of talent, supporting organisational objectives and helping create a more inclusive and resilient workforce.
Key responsibilities
- Support the delivery and coordination of apprenticeship and Pathways to Employment programmes.
- Work directly with learners, employees, managers and partners to support participation, progression and successful outcomes.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with businesses, training providers, community organisations and other key stakeholders.
- Identify and develop opportunities for work experience, apprenticeships, supported employment, training and progression pathways.
- Help develop talent pipelines that support organisational workforce planning and future skills requirements.
- Engage with employers and services to understand workforce challenges and identify opportunities to grow talent from within local communities.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and progression of apprentices and participants on employment programmes.
- Coordinate engagement activities, careers events, information sessions and recruitment campaigns.
- Maintain accurate records, learner information and programme data to support reporting and service improvement.
- Contribute to the development of innovative approaches that increase access to employment, skills development and career opportunities.
- Support the team's ambition to create a modern, resilient and sustainable workforce through proactive workforce planning and talent development initiatives.
