About the role

In this role, you will be pivotal in providing support to children, young people, and families within local communities, utilising a comprehensive family-focused approach.

As a Grade 8 Family Support Worker, you will:

  • conduct one-to-one, group, and outreach work
  • deliver direct support to children, young people, parents, and families in their homes and community settings
  • convene and participate in Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings and reviews
  • utilise relevant case management systems, databases, and business intelligence tools as directed by the team manager
  • provide information, advice, and guidance to children, young people, and families
  • collaborate with other professionals, including social workers, to co-manage cases
  • assess parenting skills and enhance physical and emotional caregiving abilities through various practical activities
  • offer parenting and behaviour management support to families and children
  • stay informed about local service provisions
  • coach, mentor, and motivate families to implement and maintain positive changes
  • support families during crisis situations
  • serve as a link worker between early help services and local schools

About You:

  • you have experience working with and supporting children and/or families
  • you are committed to improving outcomes for Dorset's children and young people
  • you are self-motivated, enthusiastic, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • you embody and promote values of Respect, Openness, Togetherness, Accountability, and Curiosity
  • you can work effectively as part of a team and independently using your initiative
