Join Us as a Senior Housing Officer (Temporary Accommodation)
Are you passionate about housing management and leading positive change?
We’re looking for a committed Senior Housing Officer to support the day-to-day delivery and development of Dorset Council’s Temporary Accommodation service, helping some of our most vulnerable residents to sustain safe, secure homes.
As a key member of the management team, you will supervise Housing Officers, oversee property management across a diverse portfolio, and help drive forward service improvements. You will work closely with colleagues, landlords, contractors, and external partners to ensure high standards, strong tenancy sustainment, and compliance with housing legislation.

What you’ll be doing:
✔ Supervising and supporting Housing Officers, including coaching, mentoring, and workload management
✔ Overseeing property and tenancy management across a portfolio of owned, leased, and emergency accommodation
✔ Managing complex cases, tackling tenancy breaches, anti-social behaviour, and safeguarding concerns
✔ Contributing to the ongoing development of service policies, procedures, and system improvements
✔ Deputising for the Temporary Accommodation Team Leader when needed
✔ Working closely with internal teams, landlords, support providers, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
✔ Supporting performance monitoring, reporting, and service development activities
What we’re looking for:
- experience of supervising or supporting a team in a housing management or homelessness service

strong working knowledge of housing law, temporary accommodation management, and homelessness prevention

excellent problem-solving, communication, and partnership-building skills

a flexible, proactive approach and a commitment to excellent customer service

the ability to work confidently under pressure, prioritise competing demands, and lead by example

access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence (essential for this role)
Experience of working with vulnerable households, safeguarding, court proceedings, or complex tenancy management is highly desirable.
A Basic DBS check will be required for this role.
