About the role

The Governors of our friendly and successful school are seeking to appoint a Pre-School leader, (Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) on a permanent basis to help us achieve our aims of getting the best from all our children in their learning and personal development. 

The Pre-School leader (HLTA) will manage the unit on a day to day basis reporting to the Headteacher and/or SLT as required;  supervise and support Pre-School Assistants allocating duties and providing absence cover as required.

The successful candidate will be flexible, resilient, a team player, have high expectations of children, themselves and other staff. Above all of this they would be expected to provide outstanding pastoral care of our children.

Salary Grade 6, SCP 16 to 22, £29,572 to £32,654 pro rata (approx. £23,955 pa.) 35 hours per week for 39 weeks per year (Term Time only)

You will:

  • have experience of working with children in an educational setting;
  • have completed TA qualifications to at least Level 3 or equivalent;  
  • have strong positive behaviour management strategies;
  • support the ethos of the school;
  • be enthusiastic and reflective;
  • be skilled at building excellent relationships with children, parents and staff; 
  • be an excellent communicator;
  • have proven experience and impact when teaching groups of children in schools.

Keeping Children Safe in Education

The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
