About the role

EARLY YEARS CLASS TEACHER FULL-TIME, 1 YEAR FIXED TERM FOR SEPTEMBER 2025 – AUGUST 2026

Rushcombe First School is a successful, forward thinking and friendly school, looking for an inspirational teacher who is committed to enriching children’s learning and well-being, ensuring the highest outcomes for all children.

We are looking for an Early Years teacher to join our highly skilled team, who will be committed to the following:

  • Building a culture based upon positive relationships, the value of listening and the fostering of children’s rights.
  • Developing innovative approaches to the delivery of the early years curriculum, including utilising the school’s Mantle of the Expert approach.
  • Providing high quality learning experiences to support children’s phonic, writing and mathematical development.
  • Facilitating highly effective child-initiated learning experiences through the school’s TED (Time to Explore and Discover), embracing the Hundred Languages of Children (Loris Malaguzzi) to develop children’s languages of expression.
  • Developing the Early Years Foundation environment along Reggio principles, including providing new provocations and stimuli on a regular basis.
  • Providing high quality daily outdoor learning opportunities through the creative use of the Early Years Foundation outdoor area.
  • Committed to ongoing research to further enhance the learning of children in the early years.
  • Working effectively within a team scenario in an open plan base.

When completing your application form, you are advised to reference the above descriptors for the role you are applying for.  If you do not have specific expertise in all of the above approaches [Mantle of the Expert, Reggio approaches], your application form should look to outline your potentiality and suitability to develop into the role.

Rushcombe can offer you the following:

  • An outstanding school, which consistently achieves high outcomes for its children
  • An innovative, inquiry-based curriculum, delivered through ‘Mantle of the Expert’ and Reggio inspired approaches.
  • A vibrant whole school learning community, in which children are eager to learn and achieve.
  • Excellent provision for teacher training, delivered by highly skilled members of staff.
  • Extensive opportunities for outdoor learning within our beautifully resourced grounds.

For further information about the post and the school, please contact the school office via e-mail at [email protected] so further details can be sent to you.  If you wish to discuss the post or have any questions, please ring the school office on 01202 695722.

Application forms should be completed online at www.dorsetforyou.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Rushcombe First School.  The post is a full-time, fixed term, main scale contract commencing September 2025 until the end of the summer term 2026.  The post will be in EYFS.

Applications are welcome from both outstanding experienced teachers and ECTs.

Closing date: 4th June 2025

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
