We’re recruiting to two fantastic opportunities in our Strategic Asset Management team at Dorset Council: a Commercial Assets Business Partner and an Operational Assets Business Partner focusing on Children’s & Adults. These are key roles helping deliver our Strategic Asset Management Plan and making sure we have the right assets, in the right places, to support communities across Dorset.
What you’ll be doing
As a Business Partner, you’ll lead for your specialist area. The Operational Assets Business Partner will focus on ensuring our operational buildings meet the needs of Children’s and Adults Services, leading asset reviews, developing asset class strategies and shaping multi-year plans to support frontline delivery.
The Commercial Assets Business Partner will focus on the strategic management of our commercial estate, working to maximise yields and returns through asset reviews, business cases and informed decisions on retention, repurposing or disposal. In both roles, you’ll work closely with services and senior leaders, coordinate feasibility studies, oversee budgets, support our zero carbon aims and maintain high quality property data to inform decision making.
About you
Both roles are strategic. For the operational role, you’ll bring experience shaping strategies, leading options appraisals and developing business cases, ideally tied to operational property or estates. For the commercial role, you’ll have a strong grasp of property markets and investment assets, with a track record in driving commercial strategies and delivering returns. You’ll also be:
-
skilled at building relationships and influencing a wide range of stakeholders, from elected members to local partners
-
confident managing budgets and complex programmes of work
-
a strong communicator, politically astute and able to work at pace and under pressure
- a self-starter, motivated and driven to see things through, with a collaborative approach and commitment to great service
If you’re ready to use your expertise to help shape the future of council services and make a real difference to local communities, we’d love to hear from you.
