We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and committed History Teacher to join our outstanding Humanities team at Twynham School on a maternity cover basis. The successful candidate will be joining a high-performing team that works across both Twynham School and The Grange School, delivering a rich and engaging History curriculum that challenges students and fosters a deep love of learning. While the role is based at Twynham School, there may be occasional travel to The Grange School for departmental collaboration.

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic teacher who will relish the opportunity to deliver engaging and thought-provoking History lessons. You will be responsible for ensuring excellent progress across your classes and for creating a calm and purposeful learning environment where all students can thrive. You will be confident in planning and delivering lessons that are differentiated to meet the needs of all learners, and you will be committed to supporting students’ academic and personal development. You will work closely with colleagues across the federation to share best practice and contribute to the ongoing development of the History curriculum. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or an early career teacher, you will be ambitious for your own development and eager to contribute to the wider life of the school.
You will have:
- An honours degree (or equivalent) in History or a related discipline
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience of improving outcomes for students in History as a classroom teacher
- Successful experience of teaching History across Key Stage 3-4
- An understanding of effective pedagogy
- Committed to supporting the vision of Twynham TGS
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Ability to travel independently
