You’ll play a key role in shaping how Dorset Council delivers modern, efficient, and valued support services across the organisation.
This is your chance to lead a major transformation of our business support function, building a high-performing, professional hub that underpins how we work, supports our people and services, and ultimately makes a real difference for our communities.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be leading the strategic development and operational delivery of the Business Support Hub and its spokes (Adults, Children’s, Finance, HR, and Chief Exec’s teams).
You’ll drive forward a simplified, digitally enabled service model that supports better customer experience, removes duplication, and builds strong internal partnerships.
You’ll be a visible leader across the council, working closely with senior managers, elected members, and partners to ensure our support functions are agile, future-focused, and aligned to our priorities.
You’ll also oversee workforce development, digital transformation, performance, governance, and budget management across the service.
About you
You’ll be a confident and values-led senior leader, able to shape strategy and lead complex change. You’ll bring:
- significant experience of leading business support or similar operational functions
- a track record of managing people, budgets and organisational transformation
- strong knowledge of local government or large public sector environments
- experience driving digital and service redesign
- confidence working with senior leaders, stakeholders and Members
- clear and inclusive leadership, promoting continuous improvement and collaboration
