Two senior opportunities to shape the safety, compliance and performance of Dorset Council’s estate.
Dorset Council is delivering major change through the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) 2024–2030, moving toward a more proactive, professional and data driven approach to managing land and property. These two Repairs & Maintenance Manager roles sit at the heart of that transformation, ensuring our operational, commercial and community buildings are safe, well maintained and fit for the future.
About the roles
We are recruiting two managers within our Facilities Management service:
Operational Assets R&M Manager
Responsible for maintaining and improving buildings that support council operations, such as offices, libraries, depots and service hubs. You will lead a team of R&M Surveyors and ensure these assets remain compliant, safe and suitable for frontline service delivery.
Commercial & Community Assets R&M Manager
Focused on income generating, public facing and community based assets, you will manage maintenance activity that supports tenants, local organisations and community users, ensuring assets remain viable, safe and well maintained.
Both roles are vital in ensuring the estate supports Dorset Council’s ambitions for strong places, resilient communities and effective services.
What you’ll lead
- Building safety and statutory compliance, ensuring all assets in your portfolio meet Health & Safety and building standards and are regularly inspected.
- Planned and reactive maintenance, overseeing delivery of property repairs and maintenance programmes with the Condition & PPM Manager and your R&M Surveyors.
- Contract and supplier performance, ensuring third party contractors deliver high quality, value for money services, resolving issues quickly and effectively.
- Budget, risk and performance oversight, managing resources, monitoring KPIs, and maintaining strong governance and reporting.
- Accurate property data, ensuring asset information is current, reliable and used to support effective decision making across the service.
These roles directly influence how Dorset Council maintains its estate, reducing maintenance backlogs, protecting users, improving building condition and enabling long term sustainability.
Why join Dorset Council?
You’ll join a forward thinking Assets & Property service that is strengthening compliance, investing in systems and driving culture change across the organisation. Both roles offer the chance to lead teams, shape standards and deliver visible improvements across a diverse and interesting estate.
