About the role

Teach Maths somewhere truly different

Imagine teaching art where the sea is visible from your classroom and creativity is part of the culture — not just the curriculum.

At Atlantic Academy Portland, set on the stunning Jurassic Coast, we believe mathematics is more than numbers. It is logic, discovery, creativity, and the key that unlocks the world.

We are proud of the progress our students make, the strong relationships we have built with our community, and the calm, disruption-free learning environment that allows every student to think deeply and succeed.

We are now looking for an exceptional Teacher of Mathematics who believes that mathematical thinking changes lives.

 The opportunity

This role is perfect for an ambitious Maths teacher who wants:

  • Freedom to design engaging mathematical learning

  • A supportive, collaborative team that genuinely works together

  • Students who are encouraged to think deeply and tackle challenging problems

  • High expectations matched with strong leadership support

You will teach Maths across Key Stages delivering engaging and ambitious lessons that develop students’ confidence in problem solving, reasoning, and mathematical communication.

Most importantly, you will help students see maths as more than a subject — as a powerful way to understand patterns, make sense of the world, and unlock future opportunities.

Most importantly, you will help students see art as more than a subject — as a language for identity, confidence and expression.

 What you’ll bring

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about Maths and student potential

  • Inspiring in the classroom and committed to high standards

  • Positive, resilient and team-orientated

  • Driven to remove barriers and help every student succeed

  • Eager to continue developing professionally

Whether you are early in your career or looking for your next chapter, what matters most is your energy, creativity and commitment to young people.

Why join Atlantic Academy?

We know recruitment is competitive — so we focus on making this a place where teachers genuinely want to stay and grow.

You will benefit from:

✔️ Disruption-free learning supported by visible SLT
✔️ High expectations and excellent student behaviour
✔️ A collaborative, fully qualified Art team
✔️ Fortnightly research-led CPD (including cognitive science and raising achievement)
✔️ Visualisers and iPads in every classroom
✔️ Free on-site fitness suite
✔️ Career development across the Aspirations Academies Trust
✔️ On-site parking and pension scheme

At Atlantic, staff wellbeing, professional growth and ambitious teaching go hand in hand.

 Ready to join the journey?

If you want to teach in a school where creativity is valued, expectations are high and your impact will be visible every day, we would love to hear from you.
