Winchelsea School is a Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council Maintained special school committed to meeting the needs of pupils, aged 4 to 19, with a wide range of learning difficulties.

We are seeking to employ an additional Speech and Language Therapist to join our school Therapy Team. This post is considered to be broadly equivalent to a Band 5 and would be considered suitable for newly or recently qualified therapists. Our Senior Speech and Language Therapist will provide supervision in house. You will have a diverse caseload and will be supported to develop your direct therapy style to include individual, group, and whole class therapy sessions.  Working closely with the Pupil Participation Team and teaching staff, you will become an integral part of the Winchelsea Team.  Previous experience of working with children, specifically those with learning difficulties and autism, would be an advantage, but not essential as we will provide support in specific areas of specialism.  Winchelsea School has a comprehensive induction process, provides many opportunities for professional development and the potential for progression.

Starting salary will be dependent on experience.

Candidates should be aware that we run eight satellite classrooms, based at four local mainstream schools.  All staff may be required to work at any of these locations therefore it is essential to hold a valid driving license.

Further Information

If you would like any further information please contact Jessica Woodrow, Senior Speech & Language Therapist via email at: [email protected].

If you have not been contacted by the school by 20 April 2026, then could you please assume that your application has been unsuccessful.

About Us

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The appointment will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, and rigorous checks of shortlisted candidates background credentials.
