About the role

We are seeking to recruit permanent driver with a responsible and caring attitude to assist in school  transport in the Wool area.

The hours of work are approx. 4 hours a day Monday to Friday split shifts morning and afternoon, transporting to and from the school within term time only.

Vehicles you will be driving will be a 17 seater mini bus or smaller.

What you’ll need:

  • a D1 (101), D1, or D category on your driving licence
  • experience working with children an advantage
  • to be physically fit to assist passengers as needed

What you’ll get:

  • a rewarding, people-focused role that makes a real difference
  • part-time hours (20 per week) that fit around other commitments
  • access to staff benefits and training with Dorset Council
  • a supportive team that values care, reliability, and kindness.

Further Information

This is a part time role at 20 hours a week in term time only.

A driving assessment will need to be undertaken as part of the interview.

This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.

This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults and/or having access to significant information about them. It will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check. See our policy on the employment of ex-offenders.

We base the pro-rata salary on:

  • the number of hours
  • the number of weeks worked
  • paid annual leave entitlement for an employee under 5 years’ service
In the first year of service this salary may need to be adjusted to ensure you are paid accurately to reflect your holiday entitlement. A similar adjustment may be made at the point your employment ends to ensure that you are paid accurately for the number of days worked in any academic year.
