Join Our Youth Work Team – Make a Real Difference in Corfe Mullen

We’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable Sessional Youth Workers to join the Corfe Mullen Youth Trust (CMYT) team and help deliver high-quality, impactful youth work across Corfe Mullen and nearby communities.

Job Title:                    Sessional Youth Worker (Zero Hours)
Salary:                        SCP5 £13.30ph – SCP7 £13.63ph (dependent on experience)
Hours:                        Zero-hour contract (evenings, occasional weekends)
Responsible to:         Lead Youth Worker
Base:                          Corfe Mullen Town Council Office, Towers Way, Corfe Mullen, BH21 3UA 
and surrounding areas


Main Purpose of the Role

As part of the CMYT team, the Sessional Youth Worker will support the delivery of high-quality youth work across Corfe Mullen and surrounding communities, with a strong emphasis on detached youth work, youth club provision, and community engagement.

The role focuses on building positive relationships with young people, delivering engaging sessions, and supporting their personal, social, and emotional development through informal education and youth-led approaches.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, inclusive, and engaging youth work sessions.
  • Build positive, consistent relationships with young people.
  • Support the delivery of youth club and sports-based provision.
  • Engage in detached and outreach youth work where required.
  • Encourage participation, youth voice, and co-production.
  • Support community events and seasonal programmes.
  • Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and equality policies.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and partner organisations.
  • Contribute to session recording and evaluation.

Key Requirements

Thursday Evenings – Youth Club (Village Hall), Approx. 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm (Plus Admin time)

  • Group work, activities, sports, and informal support
  • Working with 50+ young people
  • Supporting a busy, high-energy session

Friday Evenings – “Choose Sport” Programme (from May Half Term), Late afternoon/evening

  • Sports-based diversionary provision
  • Targeting young people at risk of anti-social behaviour or exploitation
  • Combining sport, mentoring, and youth work conversations

Availability for one or both of these sessions is highly desirable.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience working with young people
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and youth work values
  • Good communication and teamwork
  • Ability to work evenings
  • Youth Work qualification (Level 2+) or willingness to do training

Desirable

  • Experience in detached or outreach work
  • First Aid / Mental Health First Aid
  • Driving licence and access to transport
