About the role

Dorset Council is looking for a friendly, organised and adaptable Customer Service Officer to join our Health & Activity team based at the Golf & Activity Centre within Moors Valley Country Park.

The team manages the Moors Valley Golf Course and delivers a range of entry level activities in green and open space to communities across the Dorset Council area, helping people become more active and improve their wellbeing.

What you will be doing

This is a varied and hands-on customer service role where you will provide a professional and welcoming front-of-house service to golfers, activity participants and visitors.

In this role, you will support the day-to-day running of the centre by assisting customers with bookings, payments and enquiries, while also carrying out a range of administrative tasks to support the service. You will help prepare equipment such as golf buggies and accessible bikes, ensuring everything is ready for use and stored safely when not in use.

You will take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment, while responding to customer queries, feedback and any issues that arise in a professional manner.

At peak times, the centre can be very busy, so the ability to multitask, stay organised and remain flexible is essential. The role also includes responsibility for opening and closing the centre and following operational procedures to ensure everything runs smoothly.

About you

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service. You will have experience in a busy customer-facing environment and feel confident dealing with a wide range of customers in a friendly and professional way.

You will be organised and able to manage your time well, with the ability to keep accurate records and handle administrative tasks. You should feel comfortable using IT systems, including booking systems and handling payments.

You will need to stay calm under pressure, be able to manage several tasks at once, and adapt to changing priorities throughout the day. You should be able to work as part of a team and independently with a flexible approach.

Additional information

Our team are based at the Golf & Activity Centre which is within Moors Valley Country Park, this is a busy and varied environment where no two days are the same. You will be part of a team that supports golfers, residents and visitors to enjoy outdoor activities and improve their health and wellbeing.

The role includes regular weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis. You will be required to open and close the centre and may sometimes work independently. A basic DBS check is required for this role, and a uniform will be provided.
