About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team within Dorset Council’s Assets & Property service.
The role sits within the Strategic Asset Management function and you will contribute to helping Dorset Council implement a more proactive, corporate landlord approach to ensure our estate is efficient, fit for purpose and aligned to the needs of the services and residents.

Working within a busy team you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of reactive and planned maintenance, helping ensure our buildings remain safe, compliant and operational for residents, staff and service users.

You will be part of a collaborative team supporting staff across the Assets and Property Service, contributing to the Council’s goal of creating well managed, sustainable and high-quality places.

Full training and ongoing support will be provided

What you will be doing
As part of a team, you will:

  • Act as part of a busy helpdesk, responding to property related enquiries and maintenance requests from tenants, occupiers and stakeholders
  • Raise work orders, coordinate repairs and monitor progress through to completion, ensuring timely and effective outcomes
  • Support the delivery of maintenance programmes and small projects
  • Maintain accurate records within asset management systems to ensure property data is up to date and reliable
  • Arrange contractor visits and liaise with suppliers to ensure works are completed efficiently and to relevant standards
  • Process invoices, supporting budget monitoring and assist with financial reporting
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement by working collaboratively across teams
About you

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual who can effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.  You will have great communication skills with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.  Confident in using IT systems, including databases, you will bring strong numerical and literacy skills alongside a keen attention to detail.  You will be able to prioritise your workload and work equally well as part of a team and independently.
