About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to support the Littlemoor and Broadwey Neighbourhood Board to lead the £20m Pride in Place programme in Weymouth.

This post is within Dorset Council's Communities Delivery Team, which is leading change aimed to make the Council a better partner to empower local communities, working effectively with local partners. In line with this, Pride in Place is a significant long term investment by Government which aims to put decision-making power in the hands of local people to bring about transformational change.

Working closely with the independent Neighbourhood Board chair and board members, including the MP, the postholder will ensure the project delivers lasting change for Littlemoor and Broadwey. This will include enabling meaningful community participation, ensuring that residents’ voices shape priorities and decisions, and supporting Neighbourhood Board meetings and governance. The postholder will also manage the delivery of projects including commissioning, procurement and contract management.

The successful candidate will have proven ability to lead and deliver complex, place-based or community-led programmes, experience of community engagement and the ability to build effective relationships across a wide range of stakeholders. A high level of flexibility is also required, with a willingness to spend substantial time in Littlemoor and Broadwey, including some evening and weekend working, and to adapt to the needs of the board as the project progresses.

Littlemoor and Broadwey is one of almost 400 neighbourhoods across the UK to receive Pride in Place funding. The postholder will benefit from a comprehensive programme of training and support offered to Pride in Place areas by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government.

In the application form, candidates should highlight how they meet the essential criteria for the role, but please focus in particular on those listed in the context statement.
