Deliver high quality estate management. Support Dorset’s services and communities through strong data, clear processes and professional landlord tenant practice.
Dorset Council’s operational and community estate underpins everyday life across the county, including libraries, depots, community centres, fire stations, care settings, offices, and civic buildings. Through the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) 2024–2030, we are reshaping how these assets are managed, aiming for a more agile, innovative and insight driven approach that better supports service delivery and community outcomes.
As an Estate Surveyor, you will be at the heart of this work, combining professional surveying responsibilities with strong data management and efficient process delivery.
Why this role?
This is a key operational role within the Estate Management team. You will manage your own portfolio of operational and community assets, maintain strong relationships with tenants and services, and ensure decisions are backed by accurate data, clear processes and sound professional judgement.
Your work will support better services, safer buildings and a more effective, responsive council.
What you’ll deliver
Professional estate management, including inspections, rent reviews, lease renewals, service charges, landlord consents, repairs, dilapidations, valuations, acquisitions and lettings.
Strong landlord–tenant relationships, responding to enquiries, resolving issues and ensuring asset condition and compliance are upheld.
Accurate data management, maintaining property records, monitoring income budgets, and contributing to KPI reporting and audit activity.
Clear, efficient processes, managing caseloads at pace, progressing operational transactions, and supporting the client role for operational/community assets.
This role blends hands on surveying work with modern data enabled estate management — ideal for someone who enjoys both technical challenge and direct engagement with services and communities.
Why Dorset?
Dorset is investing in better asset management, better insight and better service delivery. You’ll join a supportive, collaborative team committed to raising standards and delivering the best possible outcomes for residents and service users.
