Alongside your general operational asset responsibilities, you will act as the coordinating specialist for housing related operational properties, ensuring safe, compliant and well maintained homes and facilities that support frontline services.

This is a varied technical role combining surveying expertise, contractor management, cross team coordination and proactive asset stewardship.

What you’ll deliver

  • Manage the condition, safety, compliance and repairs for a portfolio of operational assets, while taking a leading coordination role in relation to housing linked properties.
  • Plan and oversee responsive repairs, planned works and improvement projects, ensuring high standards, safety and cost effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate digital property data and support budget planning, monitoring and reporting.
  • Work closely with housing teams, building operators and fellow R&M Surveyors to ensure consistent, safe and customer focused service delivery across the operational estate.
  • Participate in the out of hours callout rota for emergency response as required.

About you

  • A construction related qualification (degree or similar) with strong experience in building surveying, repairs and maintenance, ideally including housing or residential environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of building regulations, health & safety, compliance requirements and construction processes.
  • Confident in managing contractors and consultants, solving problems on site, and using digital property management systems.
  • A clear communicator who works well with colleagues across services, balancing multiple priorities and delivering at pace.
  • Someone who role models Dorset Council’s values: Respect, Accountability, Togetherness, Openness, Curiosity.
