About the role

Do you have data analysis experience and keen to build a career in Public Health?

We’re looking for an Assistant Analyst to join our Public Health Intelligence team. This role offers a great chance to use data and insight to make a difference to health and wellbeing.

You’ll help our team and partners with insights to understand health in our local area, shape services, and support work to reduce health variation.

What you’ll be doing

You will work closely with our Public Health Analysts and our Public Health Data Scientist on a range of public health and prevention projects. You will gain experience across many topics, from understanding health needs for small areas and communities, to monitoring of public health service performance.

Your key tasks will include

  • Working with data on a day to day basis, including collecting, cleaning, analysing and interpreting information.
  • Producing clear, accurate reports, visualisations and summaries.
  • Maintaining and developing PowerBI dashboards.
  • Keeping records of processes, maintaining datasets and ensuring data governance and GDPR compliance.
  • Managing and prioritising your workload, working independently on allocated tasks as well as collaborating on wider project work.
  • Responding to information requests and providing data advice for reports and projects.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is curious, analytic, and keen to develop their skills in Public Health.

You’ll have:

  • A degree in a relevant field or similar experience.
  • A good understanding of data analysis principles and techniques.
  • Confidence working with data and performing analysis.
  • Clear written communication skills and ability to present and explain complex data.
  • Strong organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Excel and standard Microsoft Office tools.
  • A collaborative and professional approach to teamwork.
  • The ability to work by yourself and manage your work tasks to meet deadlines.
  • An interest in Public Health and working within a Local Authority

Desirable skills:

  • Experience with software and/or programming languages such as Power BI, SQL, R or Python.
  • Knowledge of public health or local government data and research.

We welcome applicants who want to grow and learn. You’ll receive training in Public Health analytics and ongoing support.
