Salary: MPS/UPS (as appropriate) £32,916 - £51,048 per annum
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Teacher of Design & Technology to join our welcoming middle school in the heart of rural Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic practitioner to inspire students across Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology as their main subject, alongside a second subject specialism in either Art or Computing.
For the right candidate, there is the opportunity to take on the role of Key Stage 3 Phase Leader, which carries additional responsibility and a TLR payment.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and high-quality lessons in Design & Technology to pupils in upper Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 (ages 9-13)
- Teach either Art or Computing as a second subject
- Inspire creativity, innovation and practical problem-solving skills
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities
- Assess, monitor and support student progress effectively
- Participate in wider school life, including extracurricular activities
- Maintain a safe and well-equipped learning environment for all students.
- Follow and promote school safeguarding policies
(For candidates applying for the KS3 Phase Leader role, additional responsibilities will include leading and developing provision across Key Stage 3, supporting colleagues, and contributing to whole-school improvement priorities.)
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- A strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology
- Ability or willingness to teach Art or Computing
- Passion for creative and practical education
- Strong classroom management skills
- Commitment to inclusion and high expectations for all learners
- Enthusiasm for working in a rural school environment
(For the KS3 Phase Leader role, leadership experience or the ambition to step into middle leadership is desirable.)
