About the role

Are you an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and solve problems? If so, this is your opportunity to make a difference to your community by joining Dorset Highways.

We are looking for someone to you will share our values and support our vision of ‘Moving Dorset Ahead’.

You will have the opportunity to work within two teams, the signshop and operational support.  The team has an ethos of continuous improvement with everyone's ideas welcome as to how the team can be better at what they do.

What you will be doing

You will be part of a small busy operational support team dealing with emergency callouts to ensure that they are issued within agreed limited timeframes and dealing with the paperwork produced from this.  You will discuss Highways works issues with members of the public and respond to Highways queries via email.  As part of the reception team you will be front facing for visitors within Charminster depot.

You will learn to schedule jobs to sign teams and liaise with internal and external stakeholders. Your role will include preparing job costs, managing a variety of signshop processes (including stock control and raising of invoices and job codes).

This role will be based in reception at Charminster and as a frontline role will be primarily office based.

Collaboration is key to the successful delivery of Dorset Highways works and you will take responsibility for prioritising your work to meet tight deadlines, often needing to react quickly to operational changes.

About You

We are looking for a team member with an attention to detail and an ability to prioritise, who is driven to improve our service and committed to the highest standards.

A robust team player, with a flexible approach, keen to support colleagues working in our friendly and busy team.

Exceptional communication/computer skills are required for this role and you’ll share our values building good working relationships with colleagues across Dorset Highways and the Council.
